He is despised and rejected of men

"He is despised and rejected of men"

Isaiah 53 v3

I remember a boy at school years ago who wasn't very good at football, nobody wanted him in their side when the teams were picked! Years later I can still see the expression on his face, realising he was unwanted.

Jesus came into the world to be a saviour of sinners. God gives the wonderful promise that if we receive Him, believe on His name, we shall become sons and daughters of God (John 1 v 12). However, we are told he was despised and rejected of men, He came to His own, but His own received Him not (John 1 v11).

Today things are no different, Jesus is still unwanted by the people of this ungodly world. The question is, what about you as you are reading this? Is it the case that God's only beloved Son, the only saviour of sinners is unwanted by you? You have no desire for Him because you don't want Jesus altering or interfering with your sinful life.

You need to realise if you receive Him not, there is coming a day when He shall judge you. Imagine then the awful look on your face as you realise you are unwanted by Christ, with the terrible eternal consequences that means for you. "I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity" (Matthew 7 v 23).
