“I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not evil”

"I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not evil”.

(Jeremiah 29 v 11)

This statement of God is a great comfort and encouragement for all God's children through faith in Christ Jesus. It should set our minds at rest no matter what our circumstances are, no matter even if they are bad and sad.

We see in God's word and know from experience, that sometimes things can be very difficult. However just as a father knows better than a young child what's best for them, so God for all His children.

It's important as believers in Christ to remember God loves us with an everlasting love (Jeremiah 31 v 3). He also cares for us (1 Peter 5 v 7), as well as working all the things together in our lives for our spiritual good (Romans 8 v 28).

God is disposed to do you good as His child. He certainly is able to do us good, seeing God has everlasting strength and nothing is too hard for Him. You see God has already done us good in sparing not His own Son but delivering Him up to the cross to save us. It means that we should realise as believers in Christ that God always will in all circumstances surely do us good. (Genesis 32 v 12).
