"The Great, the Mighty God, the Lord of hosts, is his name."
Jeremiah 32 v 18
God is great and it's not surprising therefore that we are told in Isaiah 40 v 9, "Behold your God." What excellent advice this is from God's prophet Isaiah. As we behold what God has revealed about Himself just in Isaiah chapter 40 we see:
- He is greater than all He has created (v 12).
- His wisdom is greater than all the wisdom of this world (v 13, 14).
- All the nations of the world are nothing compared to God. They are like a drop in a bucket or small dust left on scales in comparison to God (v 15-17).
- God is far greater than all the idols we set up in our hearts and lives (v 18-20).
- The rulers in this world are nothing before God. He can easily blow them away (21-24).
- The planets and stars are controlled by God (v 25, 26).
Knowing that God is my God through faith in Christ Jesus, is such a wonderful comfort (v 1). So, behold your God and wait on Him (v 31). To wait on Him, is to trust in, depend upon and submit to him. The result of doing that is He will renew your strength.
