"No man cared for my soul"
Psalm 142 v 4
There is no doubt about it that God cares for people's souls. God the Father cares in that He sent the Son into the world to save lost souls. God the Son cares in that He took human flesh and without sin, shed His blood and died for sins so that souls would be saved on faith in Him. God the Holy Spirit cares, convicting sinners and causing them to be born again. So, God Father, Son and Holy Spirit care for souls.
All those souls saved by God's grace in Christ have the duty to care for souls. a) We should care because of the value of a soul. Often our care about something is in proportion to it's value, and the soul is so valuable it should cause us to care. b) We not only care for souls because they are valuable but because they are in danger of receiving God's righteous eternal punishment which they deserve. c) Loving a lost soul means we will pray for them while doing everything possible to tell them of Christ.
- It's a terrible thing for us as believers in Christ to be unconcerned about lost souls. There would be uproar if we saw an animal in distress and had the power to help but didn't. How much worse to see souls perishing in their sins and not tell them about Christ who has the power to save them.
- It is also ungrateful to be unconcerned for lost souls. We would still be lost sinners if others hadn't been concerned about our souls and told us about Christ.
- It is also to be so unlike God and to be disobedient to God, to not seek the salvation of lost souls. Believers are given the task of proclaiming the gospel of Christ to lost souls throughout the world.
God clearly cares for lost souls, but the question is Christian, how much do you?
