"Be ye holy, for I am holy" 1 Peter 1v15
God requires all His children through faith in Christ Jesus to be holy. When a professing believer in Christ lives an unholy life, instead of honouring God they are dishonouring Him. God tells us that man looks on the outward appearance. So, the ungodly world's thoughts about God are often governed by what they see in the lives of those professing to love and worship God.
There is no way we are going honour and glorify God before a watching world if we don't seek to know and do God's word. We may exalt God in what we say but then grievously dishonour Him by the way we live. So, we need to pray to God that He would give us the grace to live as He requires, which will then honour and glorify Him. Believers in Christ are in the world but are not to be of the world with its ungodly aims, principles and practices. God calls upon us to be different, to be salt and light by our holy living. The greatest need of the world is holiness of life in professing believers in Christ.
Let's never forget what Jesus said, "Let your light shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify God which is in heaven." (Matthew 5v16).
